However, the boyband's new record 'Take Me Home' is this week's UK Number One Album
One Direction have failed to secure the fastest-selling UK album of 2012, despite promising mid-week sales.
However, the boyband's second album, 'Take Me Home', has taken the top spot in the UK Album Chart by out-selling nearest rival, Rod Stewart's 'Merry Christmas Baby', who is at Number Two, by more than three copies to one, according to the Official Chart Company.
Last year, One Direction's debut 'Up All Night' was kept off the top spot by Rihanna's 'Talk That Talk'. But with a final first-week sales tally of 155,000 copies, they have failed to take the title of this year's fastest-selling album away from Mumford and Sons. Their album, 'Babel', shifted 158,000 copies in a week.
